"The State Vocational School Illertissen organizes in cooperation with London´s ADC College a three-week study trip to England every year. A part of the internship is funded by the EU, the rest of the costs were covered by my employer ULMATEC as a training measure.
Together with 18 other students from the industry, office and retail classes, as well as two teachers, we made our way from Munich airport to Heathrow London. We continued by the bus to ADC College in the district of Harrow. Here I was already expected by my host family and received a friendly welcome. For the next three weeks my new home was there. The host families took care of our food and accommodation throughout the stay.
The first week consisted of half-day English lessons at ADC College and afternoon sightseeing in the stunning city of London. In class, we mainly practiced everyday situations, such as doing business phone calls or writing business letters. While exploring the city, we visited many attractions such as the famous Tower Bridge, Buckingham Palace or Piccadilly Circus. But I liked most the ride on the big wheel "London Eye", which allowed a fantastic panoramic view over the rooftops of London.
The practical part of my stay took place the following two weeks in the London real estate company "Let's Talk Property". Every day I went to work on the world's oldest subway network. There, I got a deep insight into the London real estate market and an unknown branch of trade for me. My main responsibilities at Let's Talk Property included handling customer inquiries, organizing viewings and general office administration work.
With the support of ULMATEC, I was able to deepen my language skills during my stay abroad in England, get to know the processes in an international company and gain a lot of experience for my future professional life.
